Marissa Brumbach's career has been dedicated to public service. She has served the citizens of Philadelphia for 20 years as law clerk in Philadelphia. Marissa also provides criminal legal services to indigent people: black, white, Asian, Hispanic, who simply cannot afford representation at the most critical times in their lives. She provides high quality, competent low cost legal services to the indigent and to her community. A significant portion of Marissa's practice is pro bono (work undertaken without charge). As a lifelong Philadelphian, who grew up in a row house in South Philadelphia, she has earned the trust, confidence, and respect of those in the community. Life experiences have given her the ability to make friends across all spectrums, being called upon frequently by those who may have “just had a question” or in an emergency situation to provide counsel, guidance and representation.
Marissa has been serving people her entire life - delivering The Bulletin newspaper at the age of 9 years old, candy striper in a hospital, dipped ice cream, camp counselor and, bartended, serving drinks to blue collar, neighborhood people through college and law school. This foundation is grounded in humility.
Marissa's demeanor and personality are refreshing to most and she is often described as a true "people person." Family, friends, members of the community, clients, lawyers, judges, courtroom staff, would all agree that she is: respectful and kind; encouraging and helpful; objective and open minded; courteous and compassionate, yet, situationally firm, always honest, punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
A lawyer with 20 years of active and substantial courtroom experience in criminal court and domestic relations, Marissa has full knowledge of the litigation process. She is exceptionally skilled in the law through experience acquired from working as a law clerk as well as maintaining a private practice.
Marissa is a mother dedicated to her family. She is a volunteer classroom mom, snack mom, chaperone, a teacher, a bed time reader, a cook, a chauffeur, a soccer, tee ball, and baseball mom, a clothes shopper, a food shopper, house cleaner, calendar keeper and planner. She is a lawyer, a law clerk, a mother, a friend, a good neighbor. Marissa is very charitable and cares about her city of neighborhoods and all of the people who live in it.
She will make the citizens of Philadelphia proud when we help her ascend to the bench. Vote on May 16, 2017!
